Just in case you are living in a flat with other flatmates, I think some of you know what that means 😀 . Especially, when you have to share the bathroom. There is not much room to spread all your creativity (if you are an interiour design interested person 😉 ).
But, if you know that your are staying just for a few weeks or months…that´s not so bad. There are still some simple ideas you could do (also on low budget) to save your day 😀 .
Think simple and don´t exagerate – less is more. You can think of colours you want to dominate in the bathroom and pick elements which have them. Or a theme e.g. seaside, jungle, French Provence…
I choose red and the seaside. Therefore I used a red bowl (bought at Woolworths) to put in shower gels. Arranged some shells, a jasmin flower and a paper-cut-out fish around it.
As a toothbrush cup I used a red-white striped mug (and yes, I put in some flowers 😀 ).
I also filled a small white bowl with some water and put in some of those good smelling jasmin flowers. They are nearly everywhere I´m walking 😀 . I always pick up some of the fallen blossoms. With that, you don´t have to buy a room scent 😀 .
And yes, you can have flowers in your bathroom, too. Not just those green leaved plants. But don´t exaggerate. For a big bouquet it´s not the right place to be shown. Keep it simple.
Like this simple arrangement:
In a shared bathroom, storage is always an issue. And it can quickly become messy and cluttered. Therefore, to keep it tidy and organized you can use separate drawers, shelfes or bins for different members. If you want to became a pro in storage organization 😉 try this helper I´ve found on amazon.
If you don´t like the towels to be everywhere, use hooks you can easily remove. So that everyone can hang his/her towel on it and take it away when finished in the bathroom.
To add a little bit of something special, you can roll up the fresh towels (they also take up less space than folded ones) and display them on a shelf or in a basket.
You can also use a basket to store your blow dryer or other electrical appliances near an electrical outlet.
One tip which is also useful for a small bathroom: mirrors. They always make a room appear bigger and brighter. In my bathroom I have a really huge one – it looks like another window 😀 therefore, the bathroom seems to be bigger than it really is.
You should keep only what´s necessary. Everything what´s damaged or broke doesn´t need to be kept.
Last but not least, you can choose one or two pieces of “artwort” as wow-factor, like a painting or this small wood boat (which helps also to store things). And of course what must not be missing is a nice scent you can achieve with room scents (like this air freshener smelling like lemongrass – my favourite one).
