Handpainted mugs – are one of the best ideas to make for yourself or the perfect gift idea for someone special. 😉
(By the way, its a great budget friendly gift idea and a personalized, too.)
There are no limits to the imagination, so go ahead and try it out.
It’s really easy and all you’ll need are:
– a mug
– white vinegar or rubbing alcohol
– a cotton pad
– a porcelain brushpen (in different colours)
Firstly, you have to clean the mug up before you draw on it with vinegar or rubbing alcohol. No greasy spots, otherwise the colour won’t stick on the surface properly. If you make mistakes you can remove them with nail polish – if you are fast enough 😉 .
After drawing let it dry for a few minutes and put the mug in the oven at 215°C (~425°F). It’s not necessary to preheat the oven. Let your mug in there for three minutes and let it cool down inside the oven. Don’t take it out earlier otherwise it could crack. Your design is permanent now and should not be washed off.
P.S.: One of my ideas has already been published in a German magazine. 🙂 Click here to read the post.
