A few weeks ago, I  saw a video on pinterest from someone using unusual materials for a painting. One was an empty roll of toilet paper. So, I thought why not try it out. If you think you are not an artist, wait until you give this a try. It’s super easy to do – really! So, let’s create your own dandelion painting. 🙂

What you’ll need:

  • black (crafting) paper
  • white acrylic paint
  • a sponge
  • a thin paint brush
  • a pair of scissors
  • an empty roll of toilet paper
  • cotton buds

Of course, you can do this painting also with different colours – it’s not necessary to use just one colour.

What you´ll need for the dandelion painting

Start with cutting into one end of the roll of toilet paper (see picture below). The longer the cut is, the bigger your flower will turn out. Keep that in mind.
Then, put some white colour into a bowl or on a thicker paper. Dip the cut ends of the roll into the colour and press that end on your (black) paper. You can repeat this process with one flower, so that it appears thicker. Just press – no spinning.

Afterwards, use the cotton buds and dip them into the colour, as well. Use them as small stemps by pressing them on the outside and inside of your dandelion flower. Then, take a thin brush and paint the stems and pistils. (If you don’t have a brush, use one of the cotton buds.)

Lastly, use the sponge and dip it into the colour, too. Press the sponge slightly on your paper. Let your painting dry for a couple of hours before you put it behind glass or hang it on your wall.

And voilà, you have an unusual painting created by yourself. Congrats! 🙂

‘Till next time,
