Do you know that feeling you get when you go to a place and you are completely overwhelmed by its beauty? I had that feeling when I first strolled around in the “Rosengarten” (Roses Garden) in Munich. This place is a show garden and open to the public. It’s a flower lover’s (and all kind of insects) garden 😀 , created by gardeners between 1986 and 1989 near the Isar river.
Best time to visit this garden is between June and July, when around 1,000 different kinds of roses are in bloom. But, of course also spring season and August till September are great, too.
The garden has around 4,500 square metres with a lot of flowers, a small stream, some green meadows where your are allowed to play or have a picnic and even some metal chairs you can move around to sit down. Some of those chairs are – especially in summer season – put in the stream to cool down your feet. 😀
For those who like to sit in the shadow between greenery (to read a book 😉 ), there are several places you can sit on a bench and enjoy the view (from time to time). Oh, and have I mentioned that this place is not overcrowded? It is a hidden place and not everyone in Munich knows this gem.
Therefore, if you like quiet and lovely places – and flowers, of course – you have to get to this place. Perfect for photo shootings, by the way 😉 . It is also completely free to enter this garden and you can stay how long you want (of course there are opening hours to have in mind).
The opening hours are as followed:
January-March: 7am – 6pm
April-September: 7am – 9pm
October-December: 7am – 6pm
