Vinyl records have something special – a kinf of nostalgia. They are not just popular for collectors, but also for DIY enthusiasts.
This is an idea you can do with old vinyl records no one needs anymore: a handy bowl for storing fruits or sweets 😉 .
It´s easier than you think!
You´ll just need:
– two bowls (a big one and a smaller one)
– a vinyl record (you can find cheap ones at a flea market)
– oven gloves
– an oven
– a baking plate
How to do?
Step 1: Preheat the oven (between 100-120°C) and don´t forget to open a window (it will smell a bit).
Step 2: Add the baking plate inside the oven and put the bigger bowl in the oven. On top of it put the vinyl record.
Step 3: Wait until the vinyl record starts to “move” up and down a bit. That´s the sign that it starts to get soft. Now, place the smaller bowl on top of the vinyl record. It will change its shape by doing this.
Step 4: After 3-4 minutes you have to take it out (otherwise it will melt too much). Therefore, use the oven gloves. Be careful – it´s hot! Now you can try to give your bowl the shape you want by moving the soft vinyl.
Step 5: If you are satisfied with its shape you can put it outside to cool down (or just on a heat proof surface). And just in case you are not satisfied, you can put it again in the oven for 1 minute. Then, you can change it again.
Step 6: Let it cool down for 30 minutes. Afterwards, it can be used as decoration object, to store sweets or to put in fruits.
P.S.: It is also a wittily and surprisingly gift idea for someone who likes musik 🙂 .
